“Before Time Runs Out”

Avengers World (2014) #17-21

2 May 2015 - 13 Jan 2016
Notes: If you’re not reading the full guide you can stick to the main title ”Secret Wars” and add the titles/characters that you’ve been reading. This might be an instance where you’d want to read Secret Wars FCBD & 1-2 and then do the other tie-ins that’s in between, for the feel you know.

Battleworld, a unique planet formed from the remnants of diverse realities, comprises distinct regions known as domains, each governed by a Baron or Baroness designated by God Doom. While some domains share connections, their boundaries remain distinct and traversing between them is discouraged, necessitating approval from the local Baron or God Doom. The domains of Deadlands, Perfection, and New Xandar stand isolated by the imposing Shield, a formidable barrier erected due to the contained perils that could jeopardize adjacent domains.

Doom and Strange are from Earth-616, unless specifically noted no other characters are. Although the characters bear resemblance to their Earth-616 counterparts, they are unique variants within the context of Battleworld.

Most of these stories are inconsequential as they are self-contained. They can still be great though! I have put a special note on the ones that I think will give you something extra moving forward.

20 May 2015 - 12 Aug 2015

27 May 2015 - 16 Sep 2015

(Reality-71612) In the northern expanse lies a barren wasteland under the dominion of the Red King, a formidable baron. This desolate realm stretches as a desert-like landscape, inhabited by a diverse array of Hulks and other creatures transformed by gamma radiation. Adjacent to this domain is Dystopia, led by the baron known as Maestro. In a rather sinister utilization of Greenland, Maestro employs it as an exile ground for those who challenge his rule, banishing dissenters to this unforgiving terrain.

20 May 2015 - 9 Oct 2015

(Reality unknown) Within the confines of this age-old city dwell a populace comprised exclusively of martial artists adept in the realm of mystical capabilities and techniques. In a cyclic ritual, transpiring every thirteen years, the ascent to the position of Emperor in K'un Lun is determined through an elaborate trial by combat. This contest unfolds within the sacred arena known as the Thirteen Chambers, where the eminent masters hailing from distinct schools engage in battle to ascertain the rightful heir to the imperial throne.

20 May 2015 - 12 Aug 2015

(Reality-22191) Arachnia stands as a distinctive iteration of New York City, marked by the tragic demise of Gwen Stacy and the enigmatic disappearance of Spider-Man. A decade later, this altered reality witnessed the resurgence of Norman Osborn, assuming leadership of Ozcorp before ascending to the esteemed position of Arachnia's Mayor. Within this intricate tapestry, an array of spider-powered heroes from diverse dimensions has been reimagined, inhabiting Arachnia and reliving their established narratives, albeit with hazy recollections of their former existences.

20 May 2015 - 16 Sep 2015
Notes: These are our heroes from the original Spider-Verse, so give this a read if you like to follow them more.

(Reality-16191) Nestled within its serene shores lies an idyllic island, overseen by the capable governance of Baroness She-Hulk. This tranquil realm finds its safeguard in the vigilant presence of A-Force, an assemblage of formidable superpowered women who stand resolute in their commitment to its protection.

20 May 2015 - 14 Oct 2015
Notes: This series carries on after Secret Wars and Ms. America Chavez seem to be from Earth-616.

(Reality-23291) Under the authoritative reign of Miguel Stone, the esteemed CEO of the colossal Alchemax corporation, this domain emerges as a distinctive entity in the year 2099 A.D. Within its bounds, a unique legal edict prevails, compelling all individuals possessing superhuman abilities to assume employment under the banner of Alchemax.

27 May 2015 - 9 Sep 2015

(Reality-11131) In the midst of its tumultuous and crime-infested expanse, the sprawling metropolis of Killville finds itself under the ominous dominion of the enigmatic dark magician, Baron Mordo. Employing the formidable enforcer M.O.D.O.K. to execute his formidable will, the city's fate hangs in the balance under this shadowy regime.

27 May 2015 - 30 Sep 2015
Notes: I’d recommend giving this a read as it somewhat touches on other tie-ins of Sercret Wars.

(Reality-91240) Within this realm, an alternate rendition of New York City unfolds, wherein Manhattan itself has undergone a nightmarish transformation into a realm akin to Hell, besieged by the incursion of demons from the infernal Limbo. To counter this menacing onslaught, a decisive measure was enacted: the division of Manhattan from the remainder of the domain through the imposition of an impermeable force field, a necessary barrier against the encroaching darkness.

27 May 2015 - 30 Sep 2015

(Reality-94241) Within this region, a menacing expanse is teeming with insectoid entities collectively known as the Annihilation Wave. This formidable force, comprised of relentless bug-like creatures, wrought devastation upon Earth when the valiant efforts of the Nova Corps proved insufficient to thwart its advance. The aftermath bore witness to the decimation brought forth by the inexorable Annihilation Wave.

27 May 2015 - 11 Nov 2015

(Reality-25158) Under the governance of President Robert Kelly, a bleak and dystopian New York City unfolds, its atmosphere tainted by an oppressive regime. The grim reality is marred further by the presence of Sentinel robots, relentless machines that, following the implementation of the Mutant Control Act, embarked on a ruthless campaign. This crusade led mutants to the precipice of extinction, casting a somber shadow over their fate.

3 Jun 2015 - 23 Sep 2015

(Reality-24201) Encompassing the island of Genosha within its boundaries, X-Topia Province emerges as a distinctive realm marked by a unique circumstance. The island, afflicted by a devastating plague, has been placed under strict quarantine. At the heart of this domain stands X-City, the capital governed by the capable leadership of Baron Rachel Grey.

3 Jun 2015 - 23 Sep 2015

(Reality-18119) A New York very much like the one we know from Earth-616, but this one takes a dark turn.

3 Jun 2015 - 9 Sep 2015
Notes: This is a good choice for Spider-fans! We might stumble upon these variants of the Parker family in the future too.

(Reality-13264) The Deadlands, a harrowing expanse, finds itself overrun by relentless waves of zombies. Positioned to safeguard the northern reaches of Battleworld, the formidable Shield, accompanied by its vigilant defenders known as Hel-Rangers, stands as the last line of defense against the encroaching tide of undead, effectively preventing the zombie hordes from infiltrating the rest of the realm.

10 Jun 2015 - 14 Oct 2015
Notes: Even if this might not be our Elsa from 616, I think this is a good read for Bloodstone fans.

1 Jul 2015 - 9 Sep 2015

(Earth-31333) Under the authoritative command of Baroness Cochran, the Hala Field stands as a bastion of militaristic might within the complex tapestry of Battleworld. Tasked with the solemn duty of safeguarding its borders against potential threats from neighboring domains, the vigilant defense of Hala Field is entrusted to the capable hands of Captain Marvel and her resolute Banshee Squadron.

(Reality-311 or a variant) This domain evokes the traits of England in the year 1602 during the Elizabethan era.

10 Jun 2015 - 7 Oct 2015
Notes: A wise choice for the fans of Angela going forward.

(Reality-61119) Comprising a complex amalgamation of sub-domains within Battleworld, The City emerges as a multifaceted landscape. The primary sectors within this intricate tapestry are the Forest Hills and Holy Wood. Overseeing the Forest Hills is the esteemed Baron Michael Korvac, while Baron Simon Williams holds dominion over Holy Wood. These two distinct realms find common ground through shared economic objectives, as well as mutual apprehension concerning incursions into their territories by the formidable Ultron Swarm.

24 Jun 2015 - 9 Sep 2015

Nestled within a different corner of The City lies the visionary Yinsen City (Reality-25315), a testament to tranquility and self-sufficiency. This utopian haven owes its inception to the benevolent healer Ho Yinsen. In stark contrast, the neighboring sub-domain paints a chilling picture with the emergence of the tyrannical Mondo City (Reality-32134). Within its turbulent confines, violence reigns supreme as the metropolis harbors a relentless desire for the advanced technology found in Yinsen City, casting a shadow over the serenity of its utopian counterpart.

(Reality-55133) The dream of peaceful co-existence of mutants and humans was achieved which turns the table on mutant dynamic.

24 Jun 2015 - 30 Sep 2015

(Reality-51920) Ruled by Governor Roxxon, this region contains the Old West 19th century town, Timely, supervised by corrupt Mayor Wilson Fisk on Roxxon’s behalf.

8 Jul 2015 - 21 Sep 2015
Notes: Definitely worth a try and see if you’re into it.

8 Jul 2015 - 7 Oct 2015

(Reality-82081) This domain is a city filled with anthropomorphic animals.

(Reality-21722) One of the few unmapped domains where New York City is surrounded by a defensive wall. One part of the Walled City of New York is under Hydra's control while the other part is under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s control.

(Reality-12151) A sprawling megacity whose population is enslaved to forge the weapons of Battleworld. The city is policed by the S.H.I.E.L.D. and is ruled by Heinrich Zemo (who believes himself to be a god and the citizens his playthings). His only opposition being the Agents of Atlas, a secret and never seen group who fight for the oppressed citizens.

It serves as the capital of Battleworld where God Emperor Doom and Sheriff Strange operate. Doomstadt is the place where courts are held by Sheriff Strange under the supervision of God Emperor Doom and the Thor Corps. The roots of Yggdrasil emerge from Castle Doom which is also guarded by a version of Galactus. Doomstadt also has the Killiseum run by Arcade where gladiatorial events of different kinds are held. Other locations in Doomstadt are the Foundation's Department of Science, Hollowuud, the Romeo Drive Commercial District, the Victor von Doom Institute for Gifted Youths, and the cavern Nornheim (which grants passage to Norseheim).

Annexed domains are allowed to retain autonomy as long as they pay for it. Anyone who shows signs of weakness ends up killed as it is considered a capital offense in Utopolis. Supremia Province (Reality-17021), Shadow Province (Reality-88194) and Europix, a World War II-themed domain (Earth-59125) are annexed domains of Utopolis. 1 Jul 2015 - 16 Dec 2015

11 Nov 2015 - 13 Jan 2016

Eight months later - The Marvel Universe; the Prime Earth

Here begins the All-New, All-Different era. We have jumped eight months forward since the Secret Wars and this is not Earth-616 anymore, it’s now called the Prime Earth. But what does that mean?

Well, mostly it’s exactly Earth-616 with a few minor alterations. People “struggle” with remembering the event of the last incursion, and they don’t remember its conclusion and most were dead during the actual Secret Wars on Battleworld (except for Doom, Strange and the survivors of the rafts, and Silver Surfer and Loki that were out in White Space).

None of these survivors give clear indications that they remember everything perfectly either. Miles Morales and Peter Parker does not seem to remember anything. Miles backstory has even changed so that he’s always been on Prime Earth. T’challa on the other hand seem to remember some of what happened.

But in the end, it doesn’t really matter who remembers what as it is not really touched upon in an impactful manner. You will discover where teams and characters are now as you read on.

During the eight months that has passed since the event, it has been revealed that the Terrigen Cloud that sweeps over the world awakening Inhumans, can be harmful to the mutant population. Some are immune, but many are stricken with disease or even dies. How this all played out initially will not be revealed until the Death of X (2016) title in the beginning of the chapter “Secret Empire” (that was how it was originally released).

Until then you will only get some hints here and there along the way.

1 Apr 2015
Notes: Rage of Ultron seems to take place closer to the events of Secret Wars and not eight months later.
